The Militaries attempt to make a pouch to hold multiple different magazines from Carbine, Bar, and M16.
An iconic part of the M56 kit its distinct strap with clip to attach to the suspenders is an interesting attempt at ergonomics during Vietnam, unfortunately due to its depth many GI's would stuff soft items into the bottom to allow the 20 rnd M16 mags to fit well.
