The Interceptor Body Armor or IBA was created as an improved replacement of the 70s-80s Era Pasgt System. Its introduction brought the US military to the forefront of body armor and personal protection, with removable plates and addable pieces this made the system more versatile and cost effective than the order Pasgt Vest.
This ballistic insert is what's found inside, this example for the back of the vest. While NOT RECOMMENDED FOR USE as it has since expired it still serves as its purpose as a piece of soft body armor
