ERDL Poncho Liner (Woobie)

Introduced in 1962 as an alternative to the heavy and old woolen blankets the poncho liner also known as the Woobie would become an integral part of any soldiers kit during Vietnam, Operations in the 70s to the 90s, and today where they are still issued in mass.

ERDL stands for Engineering Research and Development Laboratories and was the first wide spread woodland type camo in the US Military, Woobies and helmet covers became the first items introduced in mass with this pattern from about 1968 to the early 80s.
